As fitness professionals every year we learn more about how to help protect the body from injury or  how to speed up the bodies recovery after training. Long gone are the days where we relied solely on a physiotherapist or massage therapists to treat our bodies in order to avoid or help us recover from injury. There is now so much more information available on self massage, myofascial trigger point techniques and a number of other innovative ways to mobilise and help your own body recover.

But how do we know which techniques are safe and which ones to avoid? As the fitness professionals for GymChum we believe that we can help you decide. We will make it our job to research into this subject, picking out the best people in the industry to listen to and learn from. Here is a great example of an up and coming Guru, Naudi Aguilar and his innovative approach of using a cupping technique of the Rectus Femoris muscle to release tension in the hips. He explains that this tension can cause lower back pain in many individuals and can also lead to athletes tearing  their ACL if it remains untreated. Check this interesting video to see how it's done!
